You begin each day with a healthy, delicious breakfast. Throughout the day, you will be provided fresh fruits and vegetables, fresh hot and cold drinks, and a light but filling lunch. Menus will vary each day.

A gourmet dinner will include, but not be limited to, legumes such as lentil soups, jasmine rice, local nourishing brown or red rice, different chicken, fish and vegetarian curries, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and salads, as well as chutneys and pickles for those who like hot and spicy condiments, just to name a few items on our menu.

In addition to the main health conscious full course meals we have selected for you, we have provided a sample below of some popular Glenburn items.

  1. Tea Leaf Pakoras, one of the most popular tea time snacks. These are the actual green leaves (two leaves and a bud) plucked from the tea bushes, and lightly fried in a very delicate tempura batter. Served fresh every tea time, with a cup of delicate Darjeeling tea manufactured that very same day.

  2. Nasturtium Flowers served as pakoras, as well as fresh in many of our salads along with our home grown arugulo (rocket) leaves.

  3. The Glenburn Leaf and Flower Salad contains a mix of home grown arugulo (rocket leaves -both the wild and cultivated varieties), 2 other types of green lettuce, sweet basil, lemon basil and red basil leaves, flat leaf parsley, chive leaves and flowers, nasturtium flowers and freshly picked watercress from the estate.

  4. Homemade Green Tea Ice cream served with stewed fig pancakes.

  5. Some of the special local cuisine also includes a Nepali meal of a delicious meat curry, Rye Saag (mustard spinach), Aaloo Achar (a vegetable dish) and Fern Frond sabji (with freshly picked ferns from the estate).

  6. Another special item is a local Tibetan meal that consists of Momos (steamed dumplings) with a special tomato garlic chutney, and Glenburn's own version of Nasi Goreng, an Indonesian Dish served as an aromatic broth into which you add rice flavored with different herbs and spices. To accompany this, you will be served a Thai Rose Petal Salad, a Glass Noodle Salad, and a Ginger Cucumber Salad

  7. Nettle Soup is another local delicacy.

  8. The chicken sandwiches made with homemade mayonnaise and flavored with fresh mint from the garden and chocolate brownies that we send as a packed lunch for guests arriving from the airport have been voted as one of our best items.

Glenburn's hiking guides and drivers are experts at whipping out a tray of freshly squeezed lemonade, garnished with a fresh mint leaf, or a cup of Darjeeling tea served in a porcelain tea cup, in the middle of a field surrounded by tea bushes, along a forest trail or on the edge of the river.
